What the wheel measures
- Percentile
- Where a club sits against every completed club-season of league history we hold, not against this season's nineteen rivals. Twenty clubs cannot carry a percentile — each would occupy a five-point bucket and move five points whenever one rival passed it.
- Higher is better
- On every spoke, including the ones where a low raw number is the good one. Chances conceded is ranked on the inverted value, so a mean defence scores high rather than low.
- Close-range share
- The share of shots taken within 16.5 m of goal. Deliberately not called "inside the box": a shot 16 m out but wide of the post is inside that radius and outside the penalty area.
- Chances, not style
- The wheel measures the chances a club creates and concedes — how many, how good, from where. It is not a style profile: two clubs can look alike here and play nothing like each other. Possession and passing are not in what we hold at all; pressing we do hold, and it is on the style profile rather than on this wheel.

Every league we cover has one: the wheel is built from shot coordinates, and there are 595,000 of them across the five, so a club is measured against its own league's history rather than borrowed from ours.
